SKINNY PUPPY "Remission" - Original Canadian Nettwerk Productions 12" (45 RPM) - Autographed by Nivek Ogre

Up for grabs is an original Canadian Nettwerk Productions 12" (45 RPM) by Skinny Puppy, entitled "Remission". This six track disc is their first official release with a record label. Dating back to 1984, the front cover has been signed and personalized by NIVEK OGRE (see photo) who is credited with "voice, lyrics, spooky horn, and treatments". 

On www.sing365.com, Corey Goldberg wrote the following about the disc:

"Their first EP was recorded at Mushroom and released in ’84. Their true debut, Remission features Skinny Puppy with a more refined vision than on their previous tape, yet a wider scope conceptually. The idea of life through a dog’s eyes was quickly being expanded as Ogre improved at his new skill of lyric writing. For the listeners, this EP established the sound that would become Skinny Puppy’s trademark and the foundation for all that would follow. Harsh vocals, dark synths, jumping rhythms, and dialogue samples, all processed and distorted. Skinny Puppy’s sound was in some respects a bridge between the old school industrial sound, such as that of Throbbing Gristle, with the more traditionally musical techniques of early electronic bands such as Kraftwerk. Along with a uniquely dark tone, this made for a truly innovative combination".

Condition:

Record: (between VG+ and VG++) A very nice clean disc with only a few light scuffs / scratches, probably from sliding into its protective sleeve, none of which are unsightly or affect play. The Canadian Nettwerk Productions labels look brand new and unplayed; and if you're going to own a disc by a Vancouver band, then what better than owning it on their hometown label? I played the disc and it sounded brilliant, with a deep, clean, full bodied sound that was nothing less than captivating.

Cover:  (VG++) Obviously very well cared for over the years, the cover shows minimal wear. The only wear that it does have is a slight bit of very minor edge wear (in a couple of places), and a few small and gentle creases. Don't forget that it has been autographed on the front by Nivek Ogre with a black Sharpie. It appears to read: "Live tantric Lvv & pups Nivek Ogre"

Overall, given the autograph, condition, and country of origin, this is a very collectible piece that is in excellent condition. I would rate the package at about an 8 to 8.5 out of 10, in its totality.
