What you have here is a UNIQUE ONE OFF ITEM from 1970 by the band SLADE, AN ORIGINAL UNRELEASED ACETATE !!!
This item came from an old industry person who also had many other unique items (4 APPLE ACETATE I already sold on Ebay etc...).
This ACETATE is on EMIDISC and includes 2 tracks : "DIRTY JOKER" and "COULD I".
Now these 2 tracks appeared on the first 1970 SLADE album "PLAY IT LOUD" (the first one after the band changed their name from AMBROSE SLADE) but never came out as a single, so maybe this was a 2 songs demo versions for the album, or maybe it was an intended single release that never happened, as other singles from the album did not sell well, which ever way these 2 tracks have never appeared in this format EVER !!!
I don't have a copy of the album, so can not compare the versions on this acetate to the album version, but they might be different.
As you can see both sides are in STEREO.
As this was the band first release after the name change from AMBROSE SLADE to SLADE, these could have been late 1969 / early 1970 DEMOS for the new album which came out on Polydor in the end, after the band was dropped by Fontana records after poor sales, so who knows these could have been done in the period between contarct !!!
The condition of the ACETATE is VG/VG- (some scuffs), but playes very well with the occasional light crackle and faint pops. Absolutely no skips or overwhelming background noise !!!
The labels have some sticker residue, and some name crossed off on the "Could I" side, over all a nice VG condition.
