Rare Original 1970 Deep Funk 45: Slim & The Soulful Saints – CAL 200

Up for auction is an original pressing of a grail-level funk 45. "Fish Head" by Slim & The Soulful Saints is a masterclass in raw, heavy syncopation. Written by "Fish" Fendley and recorded at Fame Studios, this track has become a staple for rare groove DJs and was famously included in the Funky 16 Corners collection and The Shield soundtrack.

Condition Details:

  • Vinyl: The vinyl is visually graded as Very Good (VG). It shows a fair amount of light surface marks and some visible scuffs (see photos), which is common for these regional Southern funk pressings. It still retains a decent gloss.

  • Labels: Original grey/black labels from Shreveport, LA. There is some light wear and minor staining consistent with age, but all text remains perfectly legible. No writing or "DJ" stamps. (See high-resolution photos for exact condition).
