About the Artists: Swedish pop group ABBA, founded in 1972, became famous when they won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1974. It started a decade of almost uninterrupted string of hits and major selling albums. After the group stopped releasing new material in 1982 (they never officially disbanded) there was a relative lull in their popularity which came to an end in 1992 when "Gold (Greatest Hits)" was released. The compilation has become one of the world's best-selling albums of all time. In 1999, the musical "Mamma Mia!" based on ABBA hits opened in London and was later made into two movies. With various international productions in 50 countries across all 6 continents, "Mamma Mia!" is one of the most popular musicals of all time. ABBA were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, in the category of 'Performers'. ABBA released a new album "Voyager" in November 2021. Spectacular live shows with ABBA appearing virtually as "Abbatars" started in London in May 2022.

Coloured Vinyl Discs: Although pleasing to the eye, the overall sound quality of coloured vinyl / picture disc recordings are not always comparable to the better sounding black vinyl discs. This is due in part to the thin third layer of clear vinyl which supports the grooves. Collectors often collect picture discs as much for the "rock art" visual enjoyment, and/or rarity, as for the sound quality.
