Description
EMI Records SLS 5042. Originally a three disc set, presented here as six single-sided test pressings, with hand written white labels, each indicating "First Pressing". See below for matrix numbers. The inner sleeves have been replaced with new ones, but are included. Three of the inner sleeves have hand written identification, with matrix numbers. The other three are generic EMI sleeves.
Jacqueline du Pré, cello and Daniel Barenboim, piano, play the five sonatas for cello and piano of Beethoven, as well as the "Magic Flute" and "Judas Maccabeus" Variations. Recorded live at the Edinburgh Festival, 1970. See pics for program details.
A highly sought-after set in its normal pressing, it is extraordinarily rare to find test pressings like these. An opportunity not to be missed !
