SMALL FACES
UK MONO 1st PRESS UNBOXED RED GROOVED DECCA LK-4790
XARL-7217-4A
XARL-7218-4A
A very nice original UK MONO 1st pressing of the brilliant 1966 Small Faces debut Mod/Freakbeat/R&B album. This great original copy plays and sounds a superb EX+ condition, all tracks play and sound excellent with the absolute minimal amount of light surface hiss/crackle, this is actually almost none at all as this copy plays very close to new throughout with a excellent clean and clear sound quality.
This copy seems to have some pretty rare and unique dead wax etchings, hand etched into the run-off of side one there is the name and year ''Louise Langenborg-66'', side two also has the same name etched but with a full address and even a 6 digit telephone number, i have tried to research these etchings by contacting a few Small Faces websites but i have had no luck, i think it must have been somebody working at the pressing plant giving a friends copy the personal touch, if anybody knows different then i would sure like to know, i have certainly never heard of another copy like this so it may be a one-off.

THICK MONO VINYL=VISUALLY VG+ BUT PLAYS EX+
Both sides of the vinyl are in near excellent condition having a few light surface scuffs and some light marks/hairlines and tiny sleeve withdrawal lines, both sides still have a very nice original sheen and there are no nasty marks that cause loud surface noise as all tracks play excellent+ throughout, both sides really do play and sound superb with no loud clicks or pops and only the tiniest amounts of very light occasional surface hiss/crackle, and i counted no more than 3 or 4 feint tics during the albums entire playback, this album really does play superbly well with no bad audio faults to mention at all. this vinyl also seems to have only ever been played on good quality equipment as there seems to be no distortion or groove wear.
I have taken a few pictures of the strange etchings in the run-offs and included them in the listing photographs, they are pretty hard to read unless you are up close and even then i still cannot make out part of the address, i have made the close-up picture of the etched name and year into a negative so it stands-out that bit more, these etchings in the run-offs really are pretty odd, especially to include a full address and a telephone number, these may be on other original copies but i have certainly never heard of another one like this, i have also checked with all originals listed at popsike.com and none mention them so i am guessing that this may be a one-off.
UNBOXED RED DECCA LABELS NM
Both 1st press red mono grooved decca labels are very clean and bright and are pretty much in brand new condition, the areas around the spindle holes are still free of wear and when tilted towards a certain light it is hard to spot any spindle traces, this album has obviously been played but as you can see from the pictures provided with this listing these labels look in stunning near new condition.
FRONT LAMINATED SINGLE SLEEVE + POLY-LINED INNER =EX+
The front laminated single sleeve was printed in England by James Upton LTD, Birmingham & London. The laminated front is still in really superb clean condition, the lamination shines as new and is free of any bad faults, there are only a couple of very light lamination creases to the top/right corner otherwise the front sleeve is in fantastic clean and flat condition. the top/bottom and opening edges and the pinched spine are excellent++ condition with no areas of wear at all, the white matt back cover is in excellent clean condition with just very light age/yellowing, nearly all original copies that surface for sale have nasty looking dark blotches and discolouration on the back cover, but this sleeve is the best i have seen for quite some time and just looks superb for a white matt backed 60's sleeve that is now almost 42 year old, it would certainly be quite hard to find this sleeve in much better condition than this today.
The made in the UK white poly-lined inner sleeve is in really superb clean condition with minimal signs of handling, it is plain white on one side with four boxed areas of blue text on the other, i am unsure if this is the original inner when issued but it sure looks the part.
A superb playing/sounding copy of the excellent MOD/FREAKBEAT debut by the Small Faces.
All the pictures provided are of the actual album for sale, you can view all of the pictures in SUPERSIZE.
