I HAVE JUST LISTED A KINKS ALBUM TO START 15 MINUTES AFTER THIS AND IF YOU READ BOTH LISTINGS YOU MAY BE STRUCK BY THE SIMILARITIES IN MY COMMENTS AND RATINGS. THIS IS BECAUSE THEY ARE BOTH ABSOLUTELY SUPERB ALBUMS, AND THERE'S LITTLE TO SEPARATE THEM IN TERMS OF QUALITY.

NOTEWORTHY FEATURES: THIS IS A VERY RARE ALBUM ESPECIALLY IN THIS CONDITION.  IT MUST BE ONE OF THE BEST ALBUMS MADE IN THE SIXTIES, IF NOT THE BEST ROCK ALBUM, AND THIS PARTICULAR ONE MUST BE ABOUT THE BEST EXAMPLE CURRENTLY AVAILABLE ON THE MARKET. THIS IS AN ALL ORIGINAL FIRST AND HAS ALL THE RIGHT CREDENTIALS. STARTING FROM THE OUTSIDE IT HAS A SUPERB CONDITION FRONT LAMINATED CLASSIC SINGLE SLIP COVER BY JAMES UPTON. THE BACK IS IN LOVELY CLEAN CONDITION WITH JUST LIGHT HANDLING MARKS. THE VINYL ITSELF IS STAMPED WITH THE EARLY OR FIRST PRESS MATRICES 3A & 5A, NOT ONLY THIS BUT IT HAS THE KT TAX CODE ON THE LABEL AGAIN SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE OF A FIRST PRESSING. IT HAS THE LOVELY RED UNBOXED AND GROOVED DECCA LABELS IN BRILLIANT CONDITION AND IMPRESSIVE HEAVY VINYL. THIS IS AND EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND RECORD AND IT PLAYS LIKE A DREAM - JUST LISTEN TO THE VOCALS ON YOU NEED LOVING AND THEN TELL ME THAT ROBERT PLANT WASN'T IMPRESSED AND INFLUENCED BY STEVE MARRIOT! - PLEASE READ MY AUDIO TEST IN GREEN TYPE FURTHER DOWN IN THIS LISTING.

 I RATE THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALBUM AS FOLLOWS:

VINYL (visual / physical appraisal ) - TOP QUALITY SIXTIES DECCA VINYL WHICH LOOKS AND FEELS GOOD - A LOVELY RIGID HEAVY DUTY PIECE WHICH LOOKS EXQUISITE. NO VISIBLE DISTORTION OR DEFORMATION WHEN TESTED ON A MOVING TURNTABLE.  JUST A FEW LIGHT, WISPY AND SUPERFICIAL SURFACE SCRATCHES CAUSED BY MOVEMENTS IN AND OUT OF THE INNER SLEEVE AND A FEW SLIGHTLY MORE NOTICEABLE ONES WHICH HAVE NO TANGIBLE DEPTH AND NO AUDIO CONSEQUENCE. BRILLIANT GLOSSY BLACK SHINE - MY RATING 86%

LABELS - SUPERB, A FEW LIGHT HANDLING MARKS AND VERY FEW LIGHT WISPY SPINDLE LINES, NO APPARENT WEAR TO THE SPINDLE HOLE - OVERALL AS GOOD AS I HAVE SEEN ON A 40 YEAR OLD CAREFULLY USED RECORD (Please see photographs) - MY RATING 90%

OUTER COVER - THE CLASSIC SINGLE SLIP COVER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, FRONT LAMINATED AND Printed In England by James Upton Ltd. Birmingham & London - FRONT COVER HAS A SLIGHT CREASE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE TOWARDS THE SPINE FOR ABOUT 6cms WITH MINIMAL LAMINATE LIFT AND NO BREAKAGE BUT OTHER THAN THAT, WHICH IS HARD TO SEE, IT'S THE BEST CONDITION FRONT COVER I'VE EVER SEEN. THERE ARE A FEW TINY LIGHT BRUISES AT THE LEADING EDGE WHERE THE RECORD ENTERS THE COVER. THE BACK HAS A FEW LIGHT HANDLING MARKS AND A LIGHT CONTOUR LINE FOLLOWING THE PERIMETER OF THE VINYL BUT NOTHING UNUSUAL OR UNPLEASANT IN MY OPINION - MY RATING 89%

SPINE - EXCELLENT, PINCHED IN AT THE ENDS AS IT SHOULD BE FROM NEW AND THEN BOXED WITH RIGID SQUARE SHOULDERS FOR THE REMAINDER, ALL WRITING CRYSTAL CLEAR, ALMOST AS NEW - MY RATING 90%

INNER SLEEVE - ORIGINAL BLUE PRINTED DECCA WITH ANTISTATIC POLY- LINER LIGHTLY CREASED AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION - MY RATING 88%

REAL AUDIO TEST / SOUND CHECK: TO ASSIST BUYERS I HAVE DECIDED TO ADD A SPECIFIC AUDIO QUALITY COMMENT BASED ON MY HEARING. I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE BECAUSE TO SOME EXTENT IT IS AN ‘INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL THING’ BUT WHEN SOMEBODY IS MAKING CLAIMS OF VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT OR MINT ABOUT A VINYL I THINK BUYERS ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT HOW IT SOUNDS. I PLAY ALL MY VINYLS ON A PRO-JECT DEBUT lll DECK WITH THE DOWNFORCE SET AT 17.5 mN (1.75 g) THROUGH AN AMPLIFIER WITH BASS & TREBLE SET TO ZERO AND UNFILTERED. I WILL RATE THEM IN PERCENTAGE TERMS, AS I DO FOR THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ALBUM; WITH OF COURSE A SPECIFIC COMMENT IF THEY SKIP, JUMP, SLIDE, SLIP OR SLUR ALTHOUGH I DO NOT EXPECT TO BE SELLING ANY VINYLS WITH THOSE DEFECTS. FOR THE ALBUM IN THIS LISTING THE RESULTS FOLLOW IN GREEN PRINT.

I REMEMBER THIS BEING GOOD WHEN I FIRST BOUGHT IT IN 1966 BUT I DON'T REMEMBER IT BEING THIS GOOD. FOR ME THIS WAS PURE AUDIO PLEASURE. EXCITING, BRILLIANT, SENSATIONAL - ANOTHER 'RED LETTER' AUDIO EXPERIENCE FOR ME. I WAS DELIGHTED AND ENTHRALLED BY THE QUALITY DELIVERED BY THIS DECCA VINYL. IT COULD BE ARGUED THAT THIS WAS WHERE POPULAR PROGRESSIVE HEAVY ROCK, AS WE KNOW IT NOW, KICKED OFF. THE WAY I MEASURE THE SUCCESS OF VINYL RECORDS IS TO CLOSE MY EYES AND HEAR HOW FAITHFUL THE REPRODUCED SOUND IS TO THE 'LIVE' SOUND AND THIS IS TRULY ASTONISHING - I MADE A SIMILAR STATEMENT ABOUT A KINKS ALBUM TODAY AND IN TERMS OF QUALITY IT'S IMPOSSIBLE FOR ME TO SEPARATE THEM.  FLUENT, UNINTERRUPTED PURE LISTENING PLEASURE. A LITTLE SURFACE SOUND ON THE LEAD IN TO THE FIRST TRACK AND A LIGHT CRACKLE OR TWO IN THE UNRECORDED SECTIONS BETWEEN TRACKS BUT REALLY THE ONLY WAY TO LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC - THIS VINYL CERTAINLY GIVES THIS MUSIC AT ITS BEST - MY RATING -AN EASY 90%

Makes no sense to me to buy something important and then play the ‘high risk of damage game’ when having it shipped around the world – I hope you feel the same. Packing and Postage charges differ internationally SO I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THAT OVERSEAS BUYERS ASK FOR THESE COSTS BEFORE BIDDING. Unless the prospective bidder / buyer states a preference I always quote Airmail as Surface Mail does not usually cost much less and takes a long time (again more risk of damage or loss I think). Also please note that for British Pounds £3.30 extra you can have an International Signed for service which includes insurance up to £32. Insurance quotations to a value you specify in advance of shipping are available on request. PACKING & POSTAGE: Vinyl’s are removed from covers and put in transit sleeves. All components are then placed seperately in the same polythene liner for added safety, and carefully secured between two  corrugated stiffeners taking care not to crush the spine. I use ‘Premium Quality 600 Micron Card Mailers’ with ‘Ultra Safe’ double 3.5 cm. wide latex strips across the whole of the mailer which provides excellent adhesion and protection. Internally I use 2 of the highest grade ‘B’ flute corrugated card stiffeners to prevent bending, deformation or edge/corner creasing. Packing & postage prices are NOT negotiable on items dispatched individually or separately. However, if you are a similar time multiple buyer where all items purchased are being sent to the same address and they can be combined safely, you can ask for a discounted quotation before bidding. I will always try to be fair with buyers on p&p costs but if you do not want to pay the prices on the listings or quotations please do not bid.  I am not interested in hearing from successful bidders afterwards questioning and complaining about cost of packing and postage! I always keep proof of posting but unless you pay for Recorded Delivery, International Signed For, Special Delivery or Full Insurance I may not be able to assist you with recovery of the item or any of the costs.

PAYMENT: I accept payment by PayPal only from overseas buyers and Paypal, Personal Cheques and Postal Orders in British Pounds Sterling. Cash is an option but only by Royal Mail Special Delivery and no coinage (rounded up).
