"ITCHYCOO PARK / I'M ONLY DREAMING"
Original DEMONSTRATION SAMPLE 45 on the IMMEDIATE RECORDS lable cat# IM 057 From 1967
One of the best UK bands of their time, The SMALL FACES had a couple of decent hit records under their belt and a big MOD following. Steve Marriott was acclaimed as THE vocalist for soul power, and boy could he belt that voice out! A small guy, but a big big voice.
With the floral influences of the later 60's, this band was inclined to get as high as the best of them, and sing about it!
On Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham's lable, the hits kept coming....and when this got a bit more notice and airplay the BBC realised there must have been a bit of a drug reference here, and when they heard "we'll get high" was what the lads would do in Itchycoo Park - they banned the tune from further airplay!
Quite innocent really (unlike 'Here Comes The Nice' which they FAILED to spot was all about a drug dealer!). Oh well, the stuffy authoritarians weren't to know!
Here is that historic single in its' first appearance on 7" vinyl in the UK, on a DEMO Sample pressed for reviewers or DJ's.
A nice rare edition of a classic recording.
The vinyl is in VG condition, a couple of surface marks and a fair amount of scuff.
The labels are VG to VG+ with a sticker removed and an area of pen (see photo).
The flip side is bright and white without any markings.
