DECCA RECORDS cat# LK 4790 ~ STEREO 1965 Original 1968 pressing psychedelic LP, with "Thanks to:" list, and "...FULL VOLUME" texts on the LILAC lables.
The WHO and these chirpy little geezers THE SMALL FACES were the happening on the Mod beat scene, and scooters hi-tailed en masse to coastal towns to see them play great hard edged R n B. Steve Marriott's tough rasp was signature sound for the kind of come-and-try-it lyrics, backed by equally rough instrumentation. Indeed The SMALL FACES were special in setting up their own musical highs pressed into the British pop scene - fabulous singles My Minds Eye, Whatcha Gonna Do About It, She La La La La Lee were and still are awesome! This record saw these lads explode from London Town and firmly into the British sixties scene. The band had just fired Jimmy Winston, and hired Ian Maclagan as the talented keyboard player, so the stage was set for this material. It's a cohesive collection of tunes, Led Zeppelin even nicked from their version of Muddy Waters' 'You Need Love' for their big 'Whole Lotta Love' a few years on. A tremendous LP, it's also what collecting vintage gems on vinyl is all about.
