In The Red
Original US LP released on CAR Records in 1978.
While the Sneakers never made much of an impact when they were together, the band marks the first appearance of several seminal figures of the alternative pop scene of the early '80s. Chris Stamey, Mitch Easter, and Will Rigby formed the core of the Sneakers, writing well-crafted, guitar-driven pop rockers; their self-titled debut EP was engineered by Don Dixon, who went on to be a successful producer, as well as a solo artist. After one excellent full-length album, the Sneakers broke up. Stamey and Rigby went on to form The dB's, one of the '80s' best American power pop bands; Easter led Let's Active, as well as becoming a record producer (including R.E.M.'s first two albums). However, the Sneakers are more than a historical curiosity; although they didn't record very much, their album and EP contain some of the finest power pop of the late '70s.

Way back in the years of punk rock and new wave, and before there was anything defining lo-fi, there was D.I.Y. Such is the aesthetic which surrounds the Sneakers on In the Red. Catching Chris Stamey, Will Rigby, Mitch Easter. Blueprints for later groups were drawn in such places as "Decline and Fall" (Let's Active), "What I Dig" (the dBs), and the very D.I.Y. jam on that old staple "Roadrunner," all showing the embryo as it was beginning to develop. Garage power-pop at its finest, In the Red is a delightful look at pre-fame musicians doing what they did just for the love of it.

PAYMENT
I would appreciate payment within seven days of the auction’s end. If you want to bid on more of my auctions ending a week later please inform me. I will wait and issue a combined invoice at the close of the second week’s auctions.
However, I am no longer willing to carry combined transactions beyond two weeks and in these cases would appreciate payment promptly after the close of the second week’s auctions.
I am sorry to have to introduce these measures – I always try to be patient and allow buyers to bid on extra auctions and / or delay payment. Unfortunately some buyers have been stretching out transactions to unacceptable lengths so I feel I have no option but to limit ‘carried over’ transactions to two weeks.
