Front and back of cover artwork and text are rich, clear and bright, with some minor shelf wear and some light age spots. Seams, corners and spine are solid and clean. No splits. No writing. Spine print is crystal clear.

Why buy a first or early pressing and not a re-issue or a ‘re-mastered’ vinyl album?
First and early pressings are pressed from the first generation lacquers and stampers. They usually sound vastly superior to later issues/re-issues (which, in recent times, are often pressed from whatever 'best' tapes or digital sources are currently available) - many so-called 'audiophile' new 180g pressings are cut from hi-res digital sources…essentially an expensive CD pressed on vinyl. Why experience the worse elements of both formats? These are just High Maintenance CDs, with mid-ranges so cloaked with a veil as to sound smeared. They are nearly always compressed with murky transients and a general lifelessness in the overall sound. There are exceptions where re-masters/re-presses outshine the original issues, but they are exceptions and not the norm.
First or early pressings nearly always have more immediacy, presence and dynamics. The sound staging is wider. Subtle instrument nuances are better placed with more spacious textures. Balances are firmer in the bottom end with a far-tighter bass. Upper-mid ranges shine without harshness, and the overall depth is more immersive. Inner details are clearer.
On first and early pressings, the music tends to sound more ‘alive’ and vibrant. The physics of sound energy is hard to clarify and write about from a listening perspective, but the best we can describe it is to say that you can 'hear' what the mixing and mastering engineers wanted you to hear when they first recorded the music.
REVIEW
With a band named like Snow White one wouldn’t suspect that the genre they played would be Heavy Metal, let alone having their lyrics filled with apocalyptic tales and a cover with a nuclear explosion on the front. Strange band names aside, Snow White are a competent band with a signature sound, which while not exactly sounding like the cover of the EP would suggest (brutal, harsh, dark etc) are still worth listening to.
There are three songs on here with one being an introduction which features some dude talking about how everyone is basically fucked and how he’s going to mess up the world. It leads into the second track, Darkness Falling, which is a catchy mid paced song with a nicely done vocal performance. The chorus is pretty good as well, with the lines “darkness falling, death is calling” sticking in your head for some time. Some effective soloing is also scattered throughout the song. The lyrics (from what I can make out) are about a nuclear explosion and the aftermaths of it. New Messiah picks up the pace a bit and is probably the catchier of the two ‘proper’ songs. The riffing is improved and the vocalist utilises his voice to a greater degree. Lyrically this is about what the title suggests, some demons attacking and the messiah arriving soon after.
The vocalist sings in a falsetto for the whole time, and sounds like Dickinson crossed with Kai Hansen. He could use more of his range, but his vocals suit the songs well so it’s not a bit issue. Sole guitarist Mark Tracy offers some catchy riffing and memorable soloing, while the bassist and drummer are competent enough.
All in all, an above average release from a forgotten band. It definitely has its moments and despite being a little repetitive in parts it is worth getting if you find it up for download anywhere.
