Description
HERE'S a rare, early (1930) radio transcription. It's on the "SO-A-TONE" label, a Brunswick subsidiary. This five-minute chunk of a complete thirty-minute show features a VERY casual announcer (a refreshing change from the stentorian chaps who usually stood before a microphone) presenting REIS AND DUNN, a clever vocal-duo-with-piano team, in their take on "FOOTBALL FREDDY." They interpolate Italian and Jewish football players in with the titular Freddy! Then the Brunswick Orchestra does a hot number called "HANGOVER," which moves smartly and features some hot trombone. This may be the only piece of this show left, though early radio buffs might prove me wrong.
This nearly-unique, VERY original (and neatly labeled!) 1930, twelve-inch, un-numbered SO-A-TONE record is in lovely EE+ condition. It's so mirror-like, you can see me waving "Howdy!" on the blank reverse.
*****
These records come from my private collection, which I have been accumulating since 1967, and now am downsizing! My highest priority in these eBay auctions is to give you the best possible idea of a record’s true condition and aesthetic value. I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
