Description
SOLTI / LSO / MAHLER - " SYMPHONY NO.1 IN D MAJOR ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd. (SXL 6113) Stereo, 1964.
Very rare English, 1st pressing, Stereo LP with original grooved Decca wideband label, "Original Recording By" label text and front laminated sleeve - see photo.
English issue and pressing.
Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeve has also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)
CONDITION:
VINYL = EXCELLENT (No scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, no excessive surface noise, only light spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of very lightest of paper scuffs - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight cosmetic flaws do not correspond directly to any audible defects.
On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well - strong, clean and without interuptions.
Not quite an untouched museum piece or a sterile CD (thank goodness!), but a good honest excellent copy of a great LP for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended.
Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)
SLEEVE = V.G.++ (No big creases, rips, tears, defacing, etc. Still in reasonable shape, but had to be marked down for wear and tiny creases along the edges and corners of the sleeve, plus there's a few light creases in the laminate and the white back isn't as white as it could be - see photos for further clarification)
NOTE: I must point out that we are actually a long standing physical record shop, with many decades worth of selling, trading and grading records under our collective belts. Unlike so many of the jokers now selling records on ebay, we know how to grade records.
