Description

SOLTI / LONDON / FLAGSTAD / VIENNA PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA / WAGNER - " DAS RHEINGOLD ", The Decca Recording Company Ltd. (SXL 2101-3) Stereo, 1959.

Very rare English, early stereo pressing 3LP boxset with original grooved Decca wideband labels.

Includes original libretto.

English issue and pressing.

Professionally cleaned on my Moth record cleaning machine and then put in a fresh new poly-lined inner sleeve (the original inner sleeves have also been retained and included in the auction - see photo)



CONDITION:

VINYL =  EXCELLENT  (No deep scratches, no groove damage, no distortion, only light spindle trails, etc. In normal daylight the vinyl appears perfectly clean, under a bright grading lamp I can make out a couple of very light paper scuffs - although these are purely visual and during playback, these very slight superficial flaws correspond directly to any audible defects.

On playback, there is some faint surface noise during the silent run-in (in the pressing) which disappears as soon as the music starts. It plays really well - strong, clean and without interuptions.

Not quite an untouched museum piece, but a good honest excellent copy for someone out there to play and enjoy as it was originally intended.

Note: for the purposes of this listing I have tested this LP on my Linn LP12 Sondek turntable - generally this is quite a critical test, but I must point out that I cannot guarantee exactly how this LP will sound on your turntable - common sense for most... but then this is ebay!!!)


LIBRETTO = EX- (Genrally in good shape just some small thumb creases and some light normal wear mark it down a bit - see pic)

BOX = EX (No serious problems, just a bit of light normal wear to the corners - see photos for further clarification)
