'DOWN AND OUT BLUES'

Here's his great debut album as issued in the USA,
...but on the Blue and Silver CHESS lable
cat# LP 1437 (normally Checker 1437, but Chess was the master lable and took up some of the pressings - VERY RARE on this lable!)

Rice Miller has a legend of his own making - made up of some amounts of fantasy, stories he told, and indeed his adoption of another bluesman's nickname! What a nerve...but somehow he managed to get by and even claim more latter-day fame than the previous 'original' bluesman!
This was his first LP issued, and it's a well-acclaimed album too.
THIS copy is super-rare particularly, because the CHESS lable briefly pressed up a few copies on the transitional blue and silver printing, and these are extremely scarce indeed. I doubt there were any on the black and silver label at all, except on the original CHECKER subsidiary his debut was under.
Classic songs, influential to many British blues apprentices such as Eric Clapton, The Yardbirds, Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, John Mayall and etc.

The vinyl is VG due to several scuffs and marks, plays through with some crackle but with a strong sound.
The Lables grade EX, clean with few spindle marks only.
The solid card cover grades VG++, some seam wear and light stains to the rear.
Still a worthwhile player, and a rare, rare lable pressing!
