Up for sale is a rare, top-tier investment copy of Sonny Clark’s defining hard bop masterpiece, Cool Struttin', on Blue Note Records (BLP 1588). This particular copy satisfies every rigorous criteria required by elite Blue Note discographers

Pressing, Label & Dead-Wax Configuration:

The Grooves: Features the highly coveted Deep Groove (DG) on both sides (Side 1 & Side 2), verifying an uninterrupted run on Plastylite’s early vintage press molds.

The Ear: Features the distinctive, hand-etched cursive Plastylite "Ear" symbol in the runout grooves of both sides, confirming authentic 1950s plant manufacture

Audio Engineering: Hand-etched RVG initials indicating the masterful mono mix cut by Rudy Van Gelder.Matrix

Stamps: Side A displays BLP 1588-A; Side B displays BLP 1588-B

Label Varient: Pristine blue-and-white BLUE NOTE RECORDS • 47 WEST 63rd • NYC labels. Features no "Inc." and no ® trademark under the "E" in NOTE on either side, accurately dating this copy to the premier late-1958 release window

Condition Profile:

Vinyl Condition (VG+): Exceptionally clean visual profile with beautiful, high-gloss luster. Side 1 features a single, highly faint, 1/4" superficial hairline mark located directly underneath the letter "n" in the word "Note". It is strictly visual and cosmetic; it does not affect audio playback

Jacket Condition (VG): The original heavy cardboard outer cover is sturdy and structurally sound with no major seam splits. Shows minor vintage shelf wear along the perimeter edges and a small, faint age-stain on the top left corner of the reverse side.

Inner Sleeve: Accompanied by the elusive, original clear plastic cellophane insert liner sleeve
