ITEM:    " Jazz - U.S.A. ",  by Sonny Criss. Original 1956 pressing on Deep Groove Imperial label ( maroon ), catalog number LP-9006, High Fidelity Mono. ORIGINAL, THICK VINYL -  NOT A RE-ISSUE, INFERIOR OVERSEAS PRESSING, OR A 200 GRAM REPRODUCTION.

COMMENTS / CONDITION:

This LP came from a private collection - it is not a beat up item bought at a yard sale. The record was visually graded, and was test played.

Grading is according to Goldmine Standards. If you are not familiar with that system, please go to the Goldmine web site and read the grading details BEFORE YOU BID.

Visually the vinyl is in  VG Condition. There are no warps, deep scratches, cracks, or chips. On close inspection under a bright light source, a number of scuffs and light scratch marks can be seen, which have minor effect on the playback and listening enjoyment of the music. On my older system, both sides played well, with good sound quality, with no harsh background noise, explosive pops, skips, or groove lock. There were several areas of occasional audible tics ( mostly on side B ). Most noticeable were several tics at the start of Track 1 on Side A, on Side B several tics part way through Track 1, several slightly louder tics during Track 3, and several tics at the end of Track 5.   NOTE: Sound quality will vary from system to system. The above comments are included strictly as reference, and are not a statement as to the experience you may have with your equipment.

Both maroon ( dark red, ) matte finish ( not glossy ) deep groove labels are in very good, clean condition with no peeling edges, rips, or writing. Light spindle tracks are visible. The center hole is perfectly round and shows no signs of abusive playing.

The inner sleeve is white paper.

I have not tried to clean the vinyl or the labels. Serious collectors usually have their own preferred methods they use to care for their records.

The cover is in strong VG+ condition, with no warps, crushed corners, cut-out drill holes, notches, or clipped corners. Minor ring / rub wear is visible, mostly on the back cover, and light edge and corner wear is present. Two small stickers are on the front panel, and a previous owner's name is stamped on the back side. Photos and graphics are crisp and glossy. All seams are strong with no splits. The spine is firm.

Do not sleep on this one. During the past several months, other copies have sold for high prices, including one in NM vinyl condition, VG++ cover condition, which sold for $1,025.00
