Description
A very clean mono pressing of The Mode album by Sonny Red on Jazzland Records (JLP 59). This one also features Grant Green, Barry Harris, George Tucker, Cedar Walton and Jimmy Cobb. The address on the back cover reads: "Jazzland Records are produced by Bill Grauer Productions, Inc. (Producers of Riverside Rivercords) / 235 W. 46 St., N.Y. 36, N.Y." The front cover reads "Monaural 59" in the bottom left corner.
The orange and black labels read "JAZZLAND Long Playing Microogroove - Bill Grauer Productions Inc. New York City." The hand-etched matrix reads "JLP-59." There is also a hand-etched number "BG-10" in the trail off. This pressing has a deep groove.
The front cover is very clean with very slight ring wear. The bottom right corner is creased about an inch. The other corners are slightly dinged. The bottom edge and spine both have wear (some splitting of the paper on the spine). In the top left corner there is a faded "J39" written in blue pen, as well as a small square-ish blemish (looks like a label was removed). The back cover is very clean with some light wear/discoloration. There is also a small red stamp of what looks like the sun to the right of the title.
The vinyl is VG+ (8 out of 10, I would have gone higher on this as overall the vinyl is pristine and actually looks unplayed. There is a small but notable splotch (maybe some kind of residue that can be cleaned) on the third track of side 1 on the first track of side 2. It does not skip on my deck -- and only occasionally produces snaps). This LP comes from a non-smoking home. The record you see in the picture is the record you will receive.
Shipping will be $4.00 for media mail in the U.S. I ship internationally -- but prefer that international bidders contact me first. I usually ship within 24 hours of receiving payment. I will combine shipping if you win multiple items. Also, I tend to recycle boxes, but I always make sure to pack items, particularly records, securely.
