UP FOR AUCTION - AN ORIGINAL 1956 HARD BOP ARTIFACT!!!

SONNY ROLLINS

PLUS 4

PRESTIGE LP 7038 1956 MONO DEEP GROOVE label & back cover showing orig address of Prestige 446 west 50th St. NYC

Please note this is the original cover (not the black & white cover that is often shown)!

Cover: VG front: black tape showing on top seam and center spine (see pic), bottom edge & right side (small chip to the right of "morrow" (see pic) wear, corner bumping, shelf wear, small paper loss (probably from price sticker) above "i" in Rollins (see pic)   VG-: back due to large name scrawled in black crayon (see pic) - however all text is legible, also very faint record store pricing stamp upper left with 2 prices recorded in pencil - the 4.98 has a slash through it (list price) while their price is 3.98 - an obvious bargain at the time! shelf wear & some aging discoloration along edges (see pic)

This gem is from my personal collection & plays wonderfully, Sonny is in prime form, playing with Clifford Brown (just a few months prior to the untimely death of Brownie & pianist Richie Powell in an automobile accident)- the two of them showcasing a classic & gorgeous interplay of horns that has rarely been equaled in the hard bop cannon, that being said...

Record: VG+ vinyl has a nice shine to it
