Description
An rare and collectable copy of Sonny Rollins - Saxophone Colossus released in June 1958 on the English Esquire label, Catalogue No 32-045. Pressed using the original US metalwork,engineer Rudy Van Gelder's initials can be seen etched in the run-out grooves ( see photos).
The heavyweight vinyl has been ultrasonically cleaned in a Degritter Mark II. It has retained an excellent lustre with only one or two faint scuff marks, barely visible. Clean labels and spindle holes - graded EX.
Playback is really enjoyable & reveals a typically vibrant Esquire mono sound quality - Sonny is in the room! It plays beautifully with no jumping, sticking or skating.
The flipback laminate sleeve is in really good condition for the age with no laminate peel or lift. Mild ringwear plus a few creases & corner rubbing. Clean rear notes section & spine. No writing, splits, tears, stains or tape repairs.
The record is housed in a heavyweight Emitex type inner sleeve.
Record will be sent separated out to prevent transit splits.
