CLASSIC BOP SET FROM ROLLINS DELIVERING INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE SOUND WITH A CRYSTAL CLEAR, BRIGHT AND LOUD DECCA *MONO* CUT

In 1959, feeling pressured by the unexpected swiftness of his rise to fame, Rollins took a three year hiatus to focus on perfecting his craft.
A resident of the Lower East Side of Manhattan with no private space to practice, Rollins took his saxophone to the Williamsburg Bridge to practice alone and his first recording after his return to performance took its name from those solo sessions.
Critical reception to the album was mixed as it wasn't the experimental work expected - Rollins, who had been considered groundbreaking in his thematic improvisations, had been supplanted by the Ornette Coleman free jazz.
In retrospect however, this album has rightly been given its classic status

LABELS: EXCELLENT
Clean and unmarked labels with only a dozen or so spindle traces (which always look alarming on these black labels and are mainly caused by one single attempt to find the spindle hole)
VINYL Visual: NEAR MINT
Both surfaces retain their original deep glossy sheen and are practically unmarked
VINYL Audio: EXCELLENT
Sensational sound performance - crystal clear and razor sharp with an incredibly immediate and fantastic loud Decca *MONO* cut.
My play-check at loud volume revealed no major audio issues of note - just an extremely brief (two second) touch of interference which is practically over before you've heard it and one or two soft 'clicks' (all incredibly minor) otherwise, the sound is stunning - beautifully clean playback with no surface noise at all (the run-ins and track divisions are silent) and no other audible distractions - no groove-wear and no distortion - fabulous copy of this superb piece of work.
SLEEVE: EXCELLENT
Apart from some soft surface creasing and record impression the cover is in great sharp with little wear and crisp, sharp edges and spine - all spine text is clear and bold
