Here's a fairly scarce late 70's / early 80's repress of Sonny Rollins' 5 star album "Way Out West", originally a 1957 album, this also released by the original Contemporary Records. This is NOT a "make a fast buck" new reissue, its a pretty hard to find earlier repress. Recorded with drummer Shelly Manne and bassist Ray Brown and no keyboard for chords, this is what's called "strolling" where he just soloed over the rhythm section. Considered by so many critics and fans as a flat out 5 star album, this copy is in very nice shape. The cover is still in the shrink and does have some corner rounding and bumping, but it has a very legible spine, NO splitting, and looks so clean, and what a great photo of Sonny in a Stetson with his sax under his arm like a shotgun. The vinyl on this has a couple of very light marks that do not affect the play. The cover and LP look exactly like the original except the address on the back bottom of Contemporary Records here is a PO Box, the original was an address.
