NEVER GET TIRED / LITTLE GIRL BLUE / ANOTHER MAN / Mr. WANG - BLUE BEAT STYLE - RHYTHM & BLUES SERIES VOLUME 6 ... 7-inch, 45rpm EP single by SONNY AND THE DAFFODILS. Original UK pressing on the EMBER label (EMB EP 4538), from 1964. Hip release on the obscure Ember label R&B series, focusing on artists from the West Indies and USA. Features groovy Blue Beat and vocal Ska themes by a cult Jamaican singer backed by either crack UK Library session men or players on the scene from London's local Caribbean community (who were historically crucial to the development of the London jazz sound). A fabulous hybrid of early reggae and jazz with doo wop & rock 'n' roll in the mix too. Every track is superb. Our soundclip opens with the only instrumental theme, MR WANG (cool and carefree jazz horn solos over a syncopated dance beat) followed by ANOTHER MAN then the rest of the EP. Great for DJs. Crossover appeal for mod and soul collectors. Infectious mood music from the same Ember label series as Richard Berry & The Pharaohs / Lula Reed / Freddy King / The Fabulous Blue Beats et al. Sonny popped up a few times on the UK scene with other desirable recordings on the Blue Beat and Island Records label. He was also the same guy who fronted the Sonny Burke Outfit - All You single on Instant label that was comped on Le Beat Bespoke Vol 1 (we sold a copy of this mod garage banger a few years ago too ;) However, our 7-inch 4 tracker would appear to be his debut recording in England. Original 3-prong centre intact. Striking sleeve artwork. Rare EP!!!

Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG 

Vinyl is in shiny, strong VG+ condition regardless of a scratch that causes a few pops / ticks to the final seconds of "Never Get Tired" (the last track on our soundclip). Surface noises. Some soft pops / soft ticks in places elsewhere (as you can hear on our soundclip). The laminated card flipback picture sleeve is in strong VG++ condition with light wear. Some ring creasing from storage. A couple of tiny laminate nicks to the right hand open side. A touch of corner wear. A touch of laminate lifting in places. Sharp looking item. Rare EP!!!
