Description
Capitol ( rainbow), U.S., 1968, 2 lp gatefold. Original uncensored cover with "Big Fucking Deal" legible in speech cloud on cover, both sides.
EX/ EX
Very light abrasions, small wear at edges, some slight discoloration inside gatefold. Lp generally clean, sleeve lines, small innocuous scuffs, nice on the whole.
This band's debut and pinnacle of Westcoast-y Fillmore-friendly jam rock with long tracks, at times similar to S.F. Bay area bands with horns, like COLD BLOOD. This is the original cover, in which the words "Big Fucking Deal" are clearly visible ( although very small) in the third white speech cloud from the edge at center. These were soon scratched out on all extant copies, once Capitol brass found out about it, leaving very few ( maybe fewer than 100?) in the wild, many to most of which were promos, that were either corner-cut or hole-punched with the word "Free," while this copy is clean of any cuts or punches. A great and oft-overlooked California psych lp, here in its controversial banned "Butcher cover" version!
Plesae note that the word, "f..ing" is only a couple of millimeters tall, less that half the size of the head of a pin. It is shown in the photos, on both sides of cover, indicated where the X-Acto plade is pointing in the photos.
