Test pressing on Victor Talking Machine Co's. Sample Label BVE 53590-1. Recorded June 27, 1927
BVE 53590-2 was the take issued on Victor 22049
This original white label pressing is on a shellac 10 3/8" untrimmrd disc. There are no numbers in the dead wax area. The record surface has a pencilled scrawled "H" followed by "Hold" and, under it, a word I can't decipher..
After spending many years unsleeved, this has some rub marks and two scratch clusters that sound. When played with a 3.25 mil eliptical stylus in a Shure M-44 through a KAB Souvenir EQS Mark II, eq set at El5, it sounds really well. There is a continual chatter of unevenly spaced light ticks. They and the scratched areas are of low enough level to be of the background rather that the "in your ear" variety for those of us who have a tolerance for 78 sound. It looks worse than it sounds.
I've adjusted the 2d picture to show what is engraved under the label but I couldn't get the pencilled annotations to make themselves visible.
Shipping to the U.S. is $ 4.00; elsewhere calcualted by mailing address.
