GRADAZIONE RIGOROSA - STRICTLY GRADED

Copertine e vinili sono visualmente gradati dopo un’attenta osservazione sotto la luce del sole fatta sulla mia terrazza a tetto. Nelle giornate grigie il controllo viene effettuato sotto una forte lampada alogena con l’aiuto di una lente d’ingrandimento. Tutti i dischi in asta sono stati interamente ascoltati, i 33 giri su un giradischi Rega Planar 3 fornito di una testina a magnete mobile Grado Statement 1 mentre gli EP e i singoli a 45 giri con un Thorens TD 166 BC fornito di una testina, sempre MM, Goldring 1006. Ritenendo che le abituali classificazioni quali Mint, Ex, Vg, ecc., ecc… siano poco significative per spiegare le reali condizioni dei dischi ed anche estremamente soggettive, precedo sempre tali classificazioni con una breve descrizione degli eventuali difetti che ho riscontrato, ad eccezione di Mint- che il più alto grado che conferisco a qualsiasi disco. Soltanto per le copie ancora sigillate all’origine utilizzo MINT/MINT.

Sleeves and vinyls are visually graded after a careful check in bright sunshine on my roof terrace. In the gray days I watch the records under a strong halogen lamp with the help of a magnifying glass. All records in auction have been fully heard. Lps on a Rega Planar 3 turntable with a Grado Statement 1 moving magnet cartridge, EPs and singles 45 rpm. on a Thorens TD 166 BC turntable with a Goldring 1006 MM cartridge. Considering that the usual classifications such as Mint, EX, Vg, etc…, etc… are not significant to explain the real condition of the records in addition to a total subjectivity of opinion, I always introduce before these classifications a short description concerning any defects I have verified with the exception of Mint minus, the highest grade I declare. I use MINT/MINT exclusively for the still from factory sealed copies.

Note : il primo lato contiene sei brani composti e diretti da Giuliano Sorgini. Atmosfere sonore rilassanti principalmente basate su musica jazz. Fanno eccezione "The Hen" (a1), ottimo ballabile dalle sonorità rhythm'n'blues e "A Giovanna" (a6), piacevole tema romantico. Tra i brani jazz, a mio avviso, il migliore è "Survival" (a4), ben guidato da batteria, chitarra e basso ma anche "Zed" (a5) con organo in rilievo. Nel secondo lato troviamo cinque composizioni con caratteristiche jazz oltre a "Romantico sogno" (b4) dalle dolci atmosfere su una ritmica comunque vivace. In questo secondo lato la direzione orchestrale è di Roberto Pregadio ad eccezione del brano "Komonia" (b3) diretto da Giovanni Tommaso con il suo Complesso Jazz. Probabilmente quest'ultima traccia è la migliore dell'intero album: ottimo il contrabbasso di Tommaso, impegnato anche in un assolo, notevole il supporto di chitarra e batteria. Non a caso nello stesso anno venne interpretata da Lee Konitz insieme al gruppo jazz di Giovanni Tommaso nell'album "Stereokonitz" (RCA Original Cast OLS 2). Infine da non sottovalutare per niente le due belle composizioni jazz di Zoffoli: " The Five" (b1) e "Gerry" (b2), ambedue dotate di un buon ritmo, con vibrafono ed organo in bell'evidenza. 

Notes : the first side includes six instrumental tunes composed and conducted by Giuliano Sorgini. Relaxing sonorities mainly based on jazz music except for "The hen" (a1), an exciting dance tune with good RnB sound and " A Giovanna" (a6), a pleasing romantic  theme. Among the jazz tunes of this side, in my opinion the best are "Survival" (a4) well-led by drums, guitar and bass and "Zed" (a5) with organ in the foreground. In the second side we find five jazz compositions  in addition to "Romantic Dream" (b4) from the gentle atmosphere on a lively rhythm anyway. In this side the orchestra is conducted by Roberto Pregadio except for "Komonia" (b3) performed by Giovanni Tommaso with his Jazz band. Probably this is the best track of the whole album: great double bass of Tommaso, also involved in a solo, remarkable support of guitar and drums. No coincidence that in the same year this tune was played by Lee Konitz just with the Jazz group of Giovanni Tommaso in the album "Stereokonitz" (RCA Original Cast OLS 2). Finally, do not underestimate at all the two beautiful jazz compositions by Zoffoli: "The Five" (b1) and "Gerry" (b2), both based on fast rhythm with vibraphone and organ in prominence.
