Description
BILL WIRGES was a composer and arranger, well-respected in the Hot Dance world of '20s New York. Though he participated in lots of sessions, he made VERY few records under his own name. This is one: "SO'S YOUR OLD MAN" A Wirges original, it's unusual, moody and different. Nice piano and banjo by Mr. Wirges and Harry Reser, respectively.
The flip side is the early Rodgers and Hart hit, "MANHATTAN," played by PHIL HUGHES AND HIS HIGH-HATTERS. I love the snappy tempo and "Hot" attitude these boys bring to the number. Frankly, I'm weary of the glacial pace favored by the depressed white chicks who have sung this right into the pavement! I vastly prefer the lively feel of this record, much more like the Manhattan of 1925.
This original 1925 brown-wax Perfect 14474 is in V++ condition. Not much wear, slightly weathered. I artfully removed a VERY ugly sticker from the label of the Wirges side with "Goo-Gone" so you wouldn't have to look at it.

I always post at least four clear images, showing the record fore and aft, a close-up of the label, and the whole disc, warts and all. If my purple prose won’t cut it, the pictures will! Shipping is done with expert care. Your record will brave Media Mail in a stout corregated box, between four sheets of cardboard and a couple of “packers.” I hope you are amused by these descriptions, and by the quality of service being offered.
