This 1967 Studio One rocksteady album was recorded largely in England during Clement Dodd's ambitious decision to take his finest musicians on tour. Roland Alphonso, Jackie Mittoo, Johnny Moore and Lloyd Brevett, alongside vocalists Alton Ellis and Ken Boothe formed the newly christened Soul Vendors and though they were playing far from home, they sound completely at ease. The tracklisting reads like a who's who of the era's finest: Owen Gray alone contributes five tracks, including the irresistible 'Give Me A Little Sign,' Ken Boothe delivers 'Everybody Knows' with fine grain warmth, and the instrumental cuts demonstrate why this band was the engine room of an entire musical moment. Long out of print and now back for rediscovery by a whole new generation.
