UP FOR AUCTION:

 

One of the unsung founding fathers of the alt-country movement, Chicago duo SOULED AMERICAN preceded nearly every other artist working in the genre, and evolved their sound from the bouncy-yet-somehow-funereal feel of their Rough Trade debut, “Fe,” to the ever-evolving, slowly rambling “doom-country” tones they would become associated with later in their career. Unfortunately they (slowly) hung up their instruments around 1998.


ALLMUSIC.COM gave it 4 out of 5 stars and says:


"In terms of quality, though, the quartet were onto something that few bands who followed afterwards - UNCLE TUPELO, THE PALACE BROTHERS and its innumerable spinoffs, LAMBCHOP, just about the whole No Depression scene of the nineties - could approach."


This is a FIRST PRESSING LP in very nice condition with no discernable surface scratches or unwanted noise. CD copies of their records turn up rarely- Vinyl copies even less-so.


Fans of alt-country bands like UNCLE TUPELO, SLOBBERBONE, WILCO, and SON VOLT take notice now while the gettin' is good!
