SOUND BARRIER
"SHE ALWAYS COMES BACK TO ME" / "GROOVIN' SLOW"
7" on the original BEACON RECORDS lable cat# BEA 109 from 1968
Wow, a listen to this certainly reminds me of the latter sixties era, with bands like Fire, Pink Floyd, Boeing Duveen (and Beautiful Soup), and Ramases and Selket pervading the obscure psychedelic fringe waaay out in the music galaxy! A nice commercial sound on the 'A' tune, which for me is no way the strong track....but clearly aimed at the chart buyer. Sadly, not pop enough there, and the lyric is ....uninteresting. So, it really is all about the flip, 'GROOVIN' SLOW', which has whispery vocal effects, punchy instrumental drive, and a nice tripping scaled piano/guitar beat.
All in all, a quality record for collectors of great and freaky 60's beat!
The vinyl is VG with general whispy scuff, and one 'scrape' on the b-side that doesn't affect play...which is strong sounding, fantastically clear, very little sign of any crackle.
The lables are VG++, some pressing 'shadows' in the print but no pen, rips or stickers.
