British-only deluxe gatefold issue of the original 1981 London cast to stage musical ‘The Sound Of Music’, written by Rodgers & Hammerstein. Produced by Ross Taylor.

Principal members of the cast included Petula Clark, Michael Jayston, June Bronhill, Honor Blackman, John Bennett, Paul Shearstone & Claire Parker and the von Trapp family children.

The back sleeve reads: "This is a 33 1/3 rpm Digital Album, the first original cast album recorded in this manner."


Rodgers & Hammerstein ?– The Sound Of Music: London 1981 Cast Album (1981)

Condition (refer also to notes at bottom): Vinyl: VG. Looks unsoiled on visual inspection. One tiny scuff on side 1. Otherwise no obvious marks or hairlines. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is great throughout. Some light clicks and static at start of side 1 and intermittently through half of this side. Side 2 sounds brighter with no interference. Vocals sound fantastic. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking.
Outer Sleeve (Cover): VG. Colours wonderfully clear and unfaded. Thick card gatefold sleeve. Fantastic gloss sheen to both outer gates. Front has some creases, dents and buckling to some corners. Very light scuffing to top edge. More obvious scuffing to bottom edge. Corners show fair scuffing, spine is readable but has some light scuffs. Both apertures only lightly nicked. Rear outer gate has tiny scuffs and creases but nothing major. Inner gate unmarked and clean. A decent example.
Inner Sleeve: EX. Original. Thick white picture sleeve with squared corners. Blue printed text on both sides featuring poster on one side and full cast on the other.

MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
