Great first version of classic McCartney track. Not Badfinger... Recorded around the same time as Paul gave it to The Iveys/Badfinger.
The soundtrack for the film starring Ringo and Peter Sellers had this Macca track on it, but other music for the film was by Ken Thorne. This version by The Magic Christians is a bit mysterious. Released a week before Badfinger's version the personnel are not definite, but likely to include Denny Laine and Trevor Burton.
From 45cat website: The full line-up of the band remains unknown. It is believed to have been made up of UK musicians including Trevor Burton who had been a founding member of The Move and had been in The Uglys.
It may also have included Denny Laine (later of Wings) and Alan White (later of the Plastic Ono Band) the two of them were playing with Trevor Burton around this time asBalls, indeed this may have been a pseudonym for Balls. Songs for the soundtrack album for the film were originally supposed to have been written by Denny Laine and Trevor Burton, butBadfingerandThunderclap Newmanended up providing most of the songs. The band released one album, the self-titled The Magic Christians, on Major Minor, SMLP-71.
