Description
You are bidding on the rarest item in the Slap A Ham and SPAZZ discographies. This is the "holy grail" of the power violence era.
This is a copy of the impossible to find SPAZZ "Funky Ass Lil' Platter" 1" noise e.p. Released by Slap A Ham Records in 1996. Catalog # is Slap A Ham #34.
This was released around the time when Spazz was putting out records every month, and "collectible" records were at their height of popularity. It seemed that every band & every label was releasing some extremely limited version of their records, with limited vinyl colors, or alternate covers, or odd sized vinyl. Slap A Ham started making a joke of this trend by listing a bunch of phony "collectible" records that didn't exist (for instance, Los Crudos / Gordon Lightfoot split 2"). To take the joke one step further, and to confuse people even more, Slap A Ham actually did release this 1" record by Spazz.
It's actually more of a rare piece of art, and a document of the times. It's not a playable record with music. The record itself is a 1" plastic record with molded grooves, but it does not contain actual music, which is why this was called a "noise e.p.", just in case someone did find a way to play it (the lack of music could be attributed to a noise project).
It comes in a cover that is a piece of paper folded over & taped on the inside, to mimic a one-piece sleeve.
Included is an enormous "thanks list", which folds out several times, to make an even bigger joke of the whole genre.
The plan was to make 50 of these, but since they were all made by hand, production stopped at 14 copies, because the process was time-consuming. So, there are ONLY 14 COPIES of this release in existence.
Each band member received one, and several were given out to close friends of the band. This release was never made available for sale, and was never listed in the mail-order catalog.
