180 Gram Audiophile reissue of the classic 1964 Decca Recording by German label, Speakers Corner. Pure Analogue Mastering and a High Quality, virgin vinyl 180 Pressing. Faithful reissues of the classic FFRR (full frequency range recording) series that Decca released with the advent of stereo... complete  with glossy sleeves and liner notes.

Speakers Corner reissues are all cut from original analogue master tapes. Only 500 copies were pressed from each matrix to guarantee the highest sound quality. Because of the scarcity, these Speakers Corner reissues have become collector's items in their own right.

Condition: There is no wear on the front or the back of the album cover. Bottom right corner is slightly subbed, all other corners are sharp. Spine, top and bottom are solid with no splits or chipping. Reprint of original FFSS Decca inner sleeve is included. Inner sleeve has two stickers on the top left and top right. Vinyl is clean, shiny and plays like new.

Review: This entire LP is phenomenal, but the recording on Side 2 (excluding the 1st movement) is absolutely stunning. It is very neutral, liquid, clean, transparent, immediate and dynamic. Its very low "sound-floor" reminds me of the Mobile Fidelity "Pictures at an Exhibition" above. The combined results of all this is that the record has an extremely "alive" quality. None of the original (English) pressings I've heard are its equal.

On Side One is The Miraculous Mandarin, which is almost as impressive. Both works are conducted by Georg Solti. This is an absolute "blockbuster" that must not be missed. I have long felt that the entire "Speakers Corner Decca Reissue Series" is a huge success, but this pressing is extra special. ~ Arthur Salvatore (High End Audio)
