THE LP IS PRESSED ON QUALITY MID-WEIGHT VINYL AND HAD THE FIRST CBS TEXTURED ORANGE LABELS WITH THE FIRST *STEREO* PRESSING MATRIX: SBPG 63278 A2 / SBPG 63278 B1 AND IS HOUSED IN THE ORIGINAL FRONT LAMINATED SLEEVE WITH <-STEREO-> STICKER, “Printed and made by Ernest J. Day & Co. Ltd., London W11. Patent Pending” (first press copies only had the EJ DAY "patent pending" text!!) AND COMES COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL, DIE CUT, CBS COMPANY INNER SLEEVE - ALL IN FANTASTIC CONDITION!!!!
AN EXCELLENT FIRST PRESS COPY OF AN OUTSTANDING AND EXTREMELY RARE LP!! ESPECIALLY IN SUCH GREAT CONDITION!!

Spirit's debut unveiled a band that seemed determine to out-eclecticize everybody else on the California psychedelic scene, with its melange of rock, jazz, blues, folk-rock, and even a bit of classical and Indian music. Teenaged Randy California immediately established a signature sound with his humming, sustain-heavy tone; middle-aged drummer Ed Cassidy gave the group unusual versatility; and the songs tackled unusual lyrical themes, like "Fresh Garbage" and "Mechanical World." An extremely impressive debut with a beautiful soundscape!!!!!!

LABELS: The FIRST ISSUE CBS solid orange labels are in lovely condition, numerous spindle traces but NO other marks/unwanted writing!!
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN and both surfaces are virtually UNMARKED (some light hairlines which have NO major audio consequence whatsoever!!
VINYL Audio: SUPERB!! - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG!!!!! There are NO scratches, NO jumps, NO sticks, and just some occasional light background clicks/pops - truly awesome and very, VERY rare, especially for a first pressing!! There are lots of very quiet moments on this LP but they play with the barest minimum of surface noise and the sound quality is simply SUPERB with NO groove-wear and NO distortion!!!! Plays well throughout and must be very strictly graded VERY GOOD+++, if not better, for audio!!! NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use STRICT RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards!!!
SLEEVE: The sleeve is SUPERB!! CLEAN, BRIGHT, FRESH!!! The front laminate has a beautiful deep gloss and the unlaminated reverse is CLEAN and UNMARKED!! LOVELY SLEEVE!!

NOTE: ALL 3 SPIRIT LPs WHICH ARE ON OFFER AT THE MOMENT PLAY EXTREMELY WELL AND THE PHOTOS REALLY ARE WARTS-AND-ALL PICTURES AND PROBABLY DISPLAY THE ITEMS IN A POORER LIGHT THAN I THINK THEY ACTUALLY ARE.
