Description
Original 1974 Canada stereo press of LP on Daffodil label
Spirit of Christmas titled “ Lies to Live By”
comes complete with 4 page lyric insert sheet ( has large punch hole)
CONDITION:
heavy gatefold cover : VG++
lite shelf wear/soiling ~lite wear/fray to edges & corners( corner edge paper frayed off on a couple)
large punch hole upper left ~ see scan
vinyl: VG++
clean & glossy~lite groovewear~a few small lite surface marks/smudges &
several lite scratches hairlines & a few lite needlemarks ~ S1 has a thin lite mark across the entire side
S 2 has a lite storage/discoloration mark on outer track(several small smudges on outer track,too) &
a lite needlemark across the side ~ all superficial
plays excellent,but, with a bit of occasional lite surface noise noticeable in several quieter moments
lite surface crackle in just a couple of spots ( once on each side) ~ & there's several very lite clicks
in one spot on S2 ~ everything is low level & does not really disturb

Led by Bob Bryden, who had earlier played in the Toronto, Ontario-based Reign Ghost,
Christmas played in Oshawa, Ontario, between 1970-74.
In the later years they were known as Spirit Of Christmas
When they formed on Christmas Day in 1969 their average age was just 17.
Christmas is best described as a progressive underground band.
They were originally known as Black Christmas
Heritage consists of heavy progressive underground rock and has its moments,
particularly on Zephyr Song, April Mountain, which has some fine guitar work,
and the title track. All the songs on the album were written and arranged by Bryden.
Lies To Live By is really their finest moment and arguably one of the best albums
to come out of Canada in the 1970s. Very imaginative progressive rock.
Almost every track is excellent and this album is strongly recommended.
