The wonder of this rightly revered album cannot be denied - both in it's sleeve design and musical execution. Over the decades it has been constantly re-appraised and yet time and again reviewers struggle to overcome the prejudice of those who are immune to the mighty prog rock. Well who cares what the ignorant think?
"Spring" was a one-off, a sad, stylish beauty, carefully crafted and magnificently delivered.
Quite often ultra rare records from this period are famous for just being that - rare. Seldom do they musically match their awesome reputations. "Spring" is a true exception. It is everything you've heard and everything yet to hear.
This is a wonderful copy. The vinyl is so clean it's gloss shines out like new. There are NO scratches, digs or scuffs on this record whatsoever. Being hyper critical and under strong window light I can see the vaguest of surface marks - about a quarter inch long - on side two. But honestly...you've got to force yourself to find it.
The cover is smart unfaded and sturdy, with a strong spine still giving both band name and NEON catalogue number in deep red against the green background. The triple fold-out is still a marvel. There is a little broken line of sticker residue at the top right corner (removable I should think) and a minute amount of wearjust visible down at the base.
The famed NEON picture label is gloriously perfect and fairly beams at you. The disc comes with it's original black poly lined inner.
I'm sure the members of Spring would rather it not be such a scarce collectors item and had simply sold truck loads first time around but there it is.
In the end it's records as good as this that make modern collecting so rewarding...and here is a rare chance to buy a rare album of rare beauty.
