Description
This is the highly sought-after and rightfully also highly rated only album from the British progressive-psych band SPRING. As an outstanding 1971 recording, it somehow failed to get any attention or enough airplay to project it anywhere sales-wise, but listening to this, it's a bit shocking when you think about records that sold well but do not come near in musical stature. I enjoy these tracks as much now, as anything from that era. The writing, the arrangements with use of mellotron with guitar is extremely tasteful, and makes this a treasure - and a good LP to 'get into'. Personally, I love to play this to people who think they know their music and hear them exclaim "who the heck is this??!" Oh yeah, they heard the Pink Floyd and Moody Blues thousands of times, but why not Spring ? Of the band members, I know Pique 'Pick' Withers helped form Dire Straits, but no idea about these other (obviously talented) musicians. For auction here is an original RCA Records# NE6 Stereo pressing as pressed in 1971 in New Zealand. It didn't sell in the UK and there are probably way fewer copies in NZ either. The vinyl is of quality pressing, and it's in NM- condition with NO scratches. Lightest sleeve-lines only. The labels are clean and the gatefold sleeve is similarly in at-least EX condition - no damage, light scuff only, and a small review is attached to the inside on a blank black area. Perhaps this was a reviewer's copy at the time (?) This copy, and this music, makes it a 'keeper' ! Spring were a UK band and this is their only album, which sold few copies anywhere!
Few issues exist Worldwide, RCA NE6 was the same catalogue number given for the UK and New Zealand .
