~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I've been going thru my massive vinyl record collection these past few weeks and pulling out some LPs that I thought that someone else would want for their collection. I've been collecting records for over 45 years and it's time to pass some of them on to the next generation of collectors.
This week on EBay I am offering up this fantastic, clean copy of the classic Springsteen 'Collector' album "The Boss In Boston." This is my original copy, purchased back shortly after it's release, that I've taken great care of for many years. See details on Condition below.
This is a great 'Collector' record of classic live Bruce Springsteen. If you like Bruce and collect his records, this is a fantastic addition to your collection.
This is the first pressing,or first release of this title. It's on the "Sparrow" label which the cover states is based in Toronto, but this was actually made somewhere out in the swamps of Jersey and popped up inthe record shops along St Marks street in the Village, where I purchased it on one of my regular NYC record digs back in the day.
This 2-LP 'collector' record is on black vinyl, 2 records in a single jacket, with a red colored paper insert. This is the first edition release of this album. Later reissues had different color, blurry photocopied paper inserts and plain record labels.
This was later repackaged and reissued as "CULT OF PERSONALITY" with a cheap Black & White paper insert.
This has black & white labels from 'DISK-TRACK-SHUN RECORDS' that make no mention of the artist or songs. Common practice for these 'collector' records. Both records have identical sets of labels, but contain different music.
The packaging is rather cheap, as far as these 'collector' records go, but the cover photo is great. Bruce playing his Telecaster with a determined look on his face.
The red color works well with the photo and it's a decent looking cover.
The date is wrong on the cover. They have it as 1981, not 1980, and they list 'You can Look' as the 4th song, but it's not on the record.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ This 2-LPset captures one of the legendary nights in Bruce Springsteen's long career. It features Springsteen and The E Street Band in top form, performing a stellar setlist at a show in Boston, December 15, 1980 near the end of the American leg of the River tour.
Bruce has a long history with Boston and some of his first radio exposure outside of New York and Philly was in Boston. The band played there often, as far back as 1974, and they always did great energetic passionate shows.
This 1980 River show has that same energy and Passion.
You know you're going to be in for a hell of a night when Bruce kicks off the concert with "Born to Run." It sets the tone for the night. 
From the opener "Born To Run," The Boss jams through terrific versions of Prove It All Night, Darkness on the Edge of Town, The Promised Land, Out in the Streets, Two Hearts, Badlands, Thunder Road, 10th Avenue Freezeout, and many, many others. A great setlist for any Bruce fan.
The energy and connection between Bruce, his band, and the audience is what makes this performance amazing to hear. The Boss and the E-Street Band were at their peak during this period.
Clarence is great and plays some fantastic, heartfelt sax. Steve Van Zandt is really 'on' this night, adding backing vocals and playing killer garage/roadhouse guitar. The rest of the E-Street band is just amazing, as always. 
This Boston show was one of the best shows of the entire River Tour. It’s a great, stunning show and arguably one of the greatest E Street Band shows of all time. You can hear how relaxed, loose and spontaneous the band is. They had been on the road promoting The River for a long time, and had the show fine-tuned and perfect by the time they rolled into Boston.
This show is packed with the classics, but also featured many new songs from his latest album 'The River.' On this tour, the first set was more focused on the old classics and the second set had more of the newer River material.
The basic theme of The River was that life is a race against time, where your reality fights with your dreams, as the years slip away.
Several of the songs on The River, and played at this show, are deep, introspective songs about people wanting to grow up and settle down, yet often failing at both. 
The River shows were all about celebrating Life - all it's joys, all it's sorrows and all the curveballs it throws at you. Songs about the daily grind, about trying to make ends meet, while realizing the clock is slowly ticking away.
Songs about fighting to hold on to youthful hope and idealism, while acknowledging that it's not easy, and many have tried and failed.
The shows were packed with excellent songs about hope, loss, and rebirth.
During this concert, Bruce puts forward the notion that Rock & Roll can be the cure to the realities of life, that music can stop the clock from ticking and the calendar from ever moving past summer.
It's a great show and a great set list, although obviously only part of his marathon 3-hour plus concert.
A great Springsteen "collector" record that belongs in any Bruce collection or classic rock vinyl collection.
~~~~~~~~~~~~ CONDITION: I tried to show good hi-resolution photos of the cover, labels and vinyl in my pictures.
I purchased this copy 'new' back in the 80's over 40 years ago, and have taken great care of it since. VINYL: The vinyl looks excellent. Clean and bright. Maybe a tiny hairline, but No serious scuffs, palpable scratches, or dings. 
The pressing, like many 'collector' records isn't audiophile perfect and there are a few tiny pressing 'pits' in the wax, but in general it looks fantastic across all 4 sides and I'm sure you'll be very happy with it.
It's a littlec'dusty' and needs a good deep cleaning.
The Deadwax is pretty bare. A tiny etched 'A-C JL - 1' A,B,C,D but no other information. See the full Martix above.
I tried to show some close-up pictures of the vinyl to show how good it looks. I'm sure you'll be happy with it.
I haven't messed with it or cleaned it, other than my trusty 'DiscWasher' brush, in 40 years, since Ronald Reagan was in office. It could use a good deep cleaning to make it even better looking and better sounding. 
LABELS: The labels are clean and bright. No marks or damage. The spindle holes are still sharp and clean, suggesting minimal playing and my careful handling over the years.
JACKET: As you can see from my pictures, this still looks very nice for a 40+ year old OG copy. 
The jacket is excellent. Clean and bright. The Jacket is just a plain white cover, with a red paper insert. The corners are sharp, no seam splits or issues. The paper insert is perfect.
This record has been sleeved and stored properly for decades, and is still quite nice. This copy is all original, rare, and a real gem. I'm sure you'll love it.
