Description
SR 90177, Florent Schmitt's "La Tragedie de Salome", Richard Strauss's "Dance of the Seven Veils" from "Salome”, Edouard Lalo's "Namouna: Suite No. 1,” Paul Paray, Detroit Symphony Orchestra, FR1/FR1 (Indianapolis). This is NOT a reissue – it is the original 50+ year old FR1/FR1 pressing. It is one of the best and rarest of the Mercury Living Presence LPs. It spent many years HP's TAS Super Disk List and deservedly so. The sound and presence are amazing. The sound stage is wide and deep with huge dynamics. This is my own personal copy, and the vinyl surfaces are clean, glossy and exceptionally quiet with no pops, clicks or skips. There is one light scuff mark near the end of side 1 that does NOT sound except for possibly 2 very light tics. There are also two tics near the end of side 2 - one medium and one soft. Overall this is a very nice copy that plays NM except for the four tics noted above. The vinyl grading is EX and the labels are clean with a few light spindle marks (see photos). The jacket is clean, but has a small scrape on the back left side (see photo), and one small seam split on the bottom edge (see photo). Jacket grading is EX. In summary, this is beautiful copy of this wonderfully dynamic golden age recording. Feel free to return for full refund if not completely satisfied. Shipping is free anywhere in the continental US.
