Mercury stereo living presence SR90177, color backed with perfect FR1/FR1 stampers. c.r. fine was the recording engineer and technical supervisor. paul paray conducting the detroit symphony orchestra in florent schmitt's "la tragedie de salome", richard strauss' "dance of the seven veils (from salome)", and edouard lalo's "namouna: suite no. 1". this record and jacket are both graded VG++............................ ........................................................................................ record grading as follows: mint is a perfect, unplayed, unblemished record (few, if any, records will meet this criteria). M- is a near perfect record, no audible imperfections should be present and will have high sheen and luster, perhaps a minor cosmetic sleeve scuff, but generally not even that. VG++ is ever so slightly below m-, still should be audibly perfect, though it will display some inaudible cosmetic marks. VG+ will still have the good sheen and luster but will have minor audible sounds generally from a small scratch or a stain occurring at the time of the record pressing. VG records will display both cosmetic and audible imperfections but will play completely from beginning to end. records that i would grade less than VG will rarely be up for auction, unless it is extremely rare and then i would describe any imperfections in detail. Jacket grading is a little looser. Mint- is no writing, no tags, no scuffs and the color is still bright and vibrant. VG++ is without writing or tags, perhaps, with some minor ring wear or minor scuffing. VG+ may have a small paper tag, minor writing, noticeable scuffing or small (less than 3”) seam splits). VG I a passable complete cover with perhaps larger seam splits and shows more use and wear, but is still an acceptable cover. i was a quality control manager for a record pressing company many years ago and have a serious collection of many, many, many thousands of records that i expect to auction over the next couple of years. these records have been collected by me from a few sources, from the pressing facility directly, from buying out other fine collections and from buying out collections from fellow record industry enthusiasts.
