DOMESTIC $ 5 PLUS $ 1 EACH INTERNATIONAL $ 21 PLUS $ 7 EACH How We Rock was the third release from the Boston hardcore punk band SSD. It was rooted in the hardcore sound but exhibited overt heavy metal characteristics, such as a relatively high number of lengthy guitar solos. 'How we Rock' is a great transition from seminal hardcore punk to hard rockin' metal powerhouse. What I really like is that they play 'rock' rhythms while having a total hardcore vocalist. It's strange, but it works! What is also ridiculously cool is that, while 'Break It Up' is very much 'rock' guitar straight through, 'How We Rock' balances the 'rock' with some fast punk stuff as well. It's a real transitional record for them.
While the guitars lack the 'big' sound that comes from big recording budgets, this record is still meaty. What needs to be understood is that this record is like one big guitar solo. I mean seriously, even when the vocals are blurting out guttural shouts you have guitars shredding everywhere. The vibe works well especially when the guitarwork repeats various ideas and techniques throughout the songs. The elements that make this record good is the rhythm section, especially the drumming, as well as the throaty vocals. you tube https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gDTO_hA88o https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r8fYfc3QgOs THERE IS ANOTHER SEALED COPY ON EBAY FOR $ 60 AND A USED ONE FOR $ 40
