STAN GETZ AND THE COOL SOUNDS – VERVE MG-V 8200 – TRUMPET – NEAR MINT – MONO
There are several Clef/Verve sessions on this LP. The first was on April 16, 1953 with Stan Getz on tenor, Bob Brookmeyer on valve trombone, John Williams on piano, Bill crow on bass and Al Levitt on drums. That selection is RUSTIC HOP. The next session was on November 9, 1954 with Getz, Brookmeyer, Williams, Bull Anthony on bass and Frank Isola on drums. That selection is FLAMINGO. The next was on January 31, 1955 with Getz joining up with Tony Fruscella on trumpet, Williams on piano, Anthony on bass and Isola on drums playing BLUE BELLS and ROUND-UP TIME. The next session, recorded on January 23, 1954 features Getz with Jimmy Rowles on piano, Bob Whitlock on bass and Max Roach on drums. They play: NOBODY ELSE BUT ME and DOWN BY THE SYCAMORE TREE. The last session was recorded on August 15, 1955 with Getz playing with Lou Levy on piano, Leroy Vinnegar on bass and Shelly Manne on drums. They perform: OF THEE I SING; A HANDFUL OF STARS; OUR LOVE IS HERE TO STAY AND SERENADE IN BLUE. If anyone wants this LP, I suggest you copy this discography, as you will not find it on the LP! The label has the “Trumpet” logo. The LP is Mono
I have rated this LP as Near Mint for the following reasons. Both sides of the vinyl record are clean on any marks. There is no wear around the spindle holes. There are a few marks around them. The record jacket is in excellent condition, with little to no wear. Some very slight discoloration on the liner notes.
