Description
Beautiful original pressings of two of Stan Getz's Bossa nova LPs, Jazz Samba (1962) with Charlie Byrd, on Verve stereo V6-8132, which is in a mono cover (V-8432), and the classic Getz/Gilberto (1963) with João Gilberto and Astrud Gilberto on Verve stereo V6-8545. The Getz/Gilberto LP of course features the timeless classics Girl from Ipanema and Corcovado (Quiet Nights & Quiet Stars) both sung by Astrud, the recordings that made her famous. This copy has some very light superficial marks and sleeve scuffs but plays near flawlessly and just beautifully, with barely even the slightest crackle between songs. A truly beautiful sounding copy. The cover has some general wear, with some surface scratches on the front, edgewear at the bottom, a 1" seam split at the top right, and general shelfwear and age, but overall really not bad (see photos). The Jazz Samba LP is equally lovely, with only a little bit of spotting from the acid in the paper sleeve, not damage at all. Looks and sounds just about flawless and truly beautiful. The cover has a seam split across about 1/3 of the top, but is overall very nice. Just some general aging.
Both copies are just wonderful listening copies and look lovely. Top players.
