STANLEY TURRENTINE 3 SOUNDS “Blue Hour” Blue Note RVG, P, DG, LAM, BLP 4057 Mono Vinyl
This is 1961, first edition, “RVG” stamped, Laminated Cover, Deep Groove, “REVIEW COPY,” “P” pressing of STANLEY TURRENTINE and THE 3 SOUNDS’ “Blue Hour” on the "47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 4057. Musicians include Stanley Turrentine, Gene Harris, Andrew Simpkins, Bill Dowdy.
REVIEW COPY VINYL plays with consistent low to occasionally medium level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with pops and ticks. But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong. No distortion. No skips. Excellent gloss. Handful of hairline marks, 2 feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “47 West 63rd” labels are clean, spindle wear. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in excellent shape. No peeling. Corners worn. Top seam and spine nearly perfect. Lower seam shows cracking, split at opening. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, stains, “REVIEW COPY NOT FOR SALE” lettering. Promo copies are traditionally the very first pressings. Please see photos.
