Description : From the 1960s through to around 1980, Star Band De Dakar were the breeding ground for modern Senegalese music, one of the first to mix the prevalent Cuban covers with Senegalese folklore and rhythms that led to dance crazes like the 'ventilateur' and eventually modern mbalax, Senegal's Afrobeat.

Along the way musicians came and went, leaving to form other bands like Orchestra Baobab and Etoile De Dakar: Youssou N'Dour began his singing career with the Star Band in the late 1970s before leaving to form Etoile.

Star Band records originally appeared on the Soumbouya label and sometimes again via Sonodisc in different "B" covers for the Senegalese community in France.

This late '70s album is the 1980 Sonodisc release of one of the four Star Band albums (Vols 8-11) that featured the youthful Youssou N'Dour as a singer.

Note : The record, label and sleeve are visually pristine and probably played only once: small price sticker on front.
