STARCHILD “Children of the Stars” rare Canadian prog psych rock lp M- listen!

1978/Cdn/Axe AXS 521…..here’s an original pressing of this rare Canadian lp. This record seldom turns up and it seems it’s on lots of want lists. The cover is in strong VG+ to VG++ condition with a neat drill hole top right, light corner wear, a few spots of light wear on the top seam, light partial ring wear, slight shelf wear, otherwise solid and clean with no splits. The vinyl is in M- condition with just a bit of light storage stains/blemishes from the inner sleeve. The record plays clean with nice fidelity! The sound clip is recorded directly from the record being offered and has not been altered in any way, but is a low quality recording. A gorgeous copy of this rare gem! Starchild was formed in 1975 in Cambridge, Ontario when Bob Sprenger, Rick Whittier, and Neil Light, who played in a steady gigging band called Gaslight, decided to reform as a heavier rock band. The name of the band came from the Starchild Trilogy written by Frederik Pohl and Jack Williamson. Most of the band members were huge science fiction fans, and when the band's producer Greg Hambleton (who also signed Steel River to his Tuesday label) wanted something more futuristic sounding than the previous name, Thorne, the name change to Starchild was unanimous. After going through a few different drummers, they hired Greg "Fritz" Hinz and hit the road full time. The band's first recording was a 2 song demo ("Party of the Toads" and "Tough Situation") produced and engineered by a young Daniel Lanois in his mother's basement in Ancaster in 1976. Children of the Stars was recorded in Toronto in the autumn of 1977 and released in the spring of 1978. The band opened for fellow Canadian rockers Triumph, Goddo, and Moxy as well as others.

GRADING

MINT: I consider New Unplayed or Sealed items only.

M- or Mint Minus, very clean with clean visual appearance and sound, there may be a couple of light inaudible hairline scuffs or such and will be mentioned in the listing, a Mint- record looks and plays very clean. Same for the cover. Very clean with no delete or other issues.

EXCELLENT: still very collectable for most, visually and sonicly clean. A handful of light inaudible scuffs, or hairlines. Cover will be clean with little wear, or delete. No splits.

VG++ still a very nice copy with minimal wear, the vinyl will retain it's original gloss and can have some minor scuffs/scratches that don't affect play very much. Cover will have slight shelf wear, and or delete, minor split.

VG+ the vinyl will still retain much original gloss with a bit more scuffs and/or scratches I may list a very rare or desirable item with a lower grade, I will try to list all defects.
