Description
On offer is a 12” LP record titled STEAM ACTION Volume 1 – Authentic Sounds Of Australian Steam Locomotives In Action (W&G Custom Pressing). It features steam locomotives from New South Wales and Victoria. The record was released in the early/mid 1960’s. There are notes for each recording on the back cover.
The features of each recording are as follows: 3801 leaving Culcairn with the Sydney bound “Riverina Limited Express” / 3801 north of Junee with the “Riverina”/ 3829 south of Wyee with the “Newcastle Flyer” / 59 Class Mikados of the NSWGR / Engines R 700 and R 769 on the ascent to Warrenheip with load of wheat bound for Geelong / Bayer-Garratt 6006 of the NSWGR leaving Wyee / Engine D3 639 hauling a Parliamentary Special to Bendigo and Swan Hill in February, 1964 / 3819 at high speed with the Sydney to Newcastle Express / 6036 bursting through Fassifern with a fast freight from Sydney bound for Newcastle / A 3130, a 4-6-4 Tank departing from Fassifern with a Toronto local for Newcastle / “Puffing Billy” works up from Monbulk Creek into Belgrave / Engine 5339 of the NSWGR leaves Westvale bound for Sydney / A steam diesel coupling / 3651 leaving Passifern with a Sydney to Newcastle train / 707 leaves Clyde and climbs towards the recorder.
The record is in VG Minus condition. Some light surface noise in spots and the odd click and pop. It is still an enjoyable listen. In non record collector terms it is a 5.5 to 6 in condition. / The cover has some wear. There is some masking tape on the bottom seam. It’s funny how people never thought to just glue the cover back together. There is a surface tear on the front and part of the picture is missing. Next to it is some paint or ink. There is some heavy wear on the spine. There is a 10cm split on the top seam + some wear. There is ringwear on the front and back + some soiling on the back. The notes can still be clearly read. A sound copy of a hard to find item.
