Description
On offer is a 12” LP record titled POWER ON THE MOVE – Steam Action Volume 2 (W&G B-2477). The recordings feature steam locomotives from New South Wales and Victoria . The record was released in the early or mid 1960’s. There are notes for each recording on the back cover.
The features of each recording are as follows: Near Mt Macedon a R703 drowns out a D3 693 and R723 enters the scene / A happy “Throttle Artist” and a 36 class team up to move tonnage away from Blayney / R711 on the 5’ 3” line between Wallan and Heathcote tries to overtake a diesel / Two old series Newport ‘N’ Class engines team up in hoisting tonnage up Chewton Bank / 3669 departing Wyee with a Sydney bound passenger train / A 60 class Garrat, the 6033 lazes on the mainline with her pump sighing waiting for the heavy coal train with 5905 and 6030 to pass through Fassifern / N427 and R723 team up to move a heavy load towars Maryborough / A D3 639 sounds the song of her proud heritage / R711 accelerates away from Avenel towards Benalla / 3519 is departing Wyee for Sydney / A Vulcan 0-6-0 at the Australian Cement works at Faynsford, Geelong / 3624 and 5349 team up to haul heavy tonnage through Tumulla and on towards Blayney and the far west.
The record is in VG+ condition. It plays well with just the odd pop and crackle. An enjoyable listen. In non record collector terms it is probably a 6.5 to 7. The cover has some wear. There is some heavy wear on the spine (it is not split) and wear on the other seams. There is a small split in the bottom corner. There is some ringwear on the front and back.The notes can be clearly read. A sound copy of a hard to find item.
