RARE - Mobile Fidelity Sound Labs - ORIGINAL MASTER RECORDING -- Steely Dan - Katy Lied -- MFSL 1-007. Please see ACTUAL PHOTOs. This version is the infamous MFSL Half-Speed production from the original stereo master tapes, with master lacquers by Stan Ricker. For years rumours have "swirled" as to why this MFSL title was really pulled from the market -- from the lacquer plating being damaged after a short run of pressings to a noise reduction issue during the original recording session to Mr. Becker and Mr. Fagen requesting Mobile Fidelity to cease and desist with this version altogether. Regardless, this MFSL title has become a real collector's item not just for the unique sonic differences, but for its rareness, especially copies that are in excellent or better condition (like this one!). I've seen copies go for more than $100 here on eBay. More technical details about this item: Specially plated and pressed on JVC Imported High Definition Vinyl (Japan). Special Heavy Duty Protective Packaging -- the absolute ORIGINAL plain white MFSL cardboard insert, not the one used a little later that contained printing on it (the first eight titles on MFSL all used plain white or regular gray cardboard protective packaging during their initial release phase in mid-1978). This one also includes the ORIGINAL "Your Assistance Is Requested" yellow insert that asked the consumer to grade the disc for defects (and send the form to MFSL). Comes in the ORIGINAL static free rice paper inner sleeve, too. And oh yes, this is one fine album, critically acclaimed upon its original release in April 1975. Track listing: "Black Friday," "Bad Sneakers," "Rose Darling," "Daddy Don't Live In That New York City No More," "Doctor Wu," "Everyone's Gone to the Movies," "Your Gold Teeth II," "Chain Lightning," "Any World (That I'm Welcome To)" and "Throw Back the Little Ones." Vinyl is Near Mint ...just one tiny superficial mark that does not affect play ...sounds excellent! ...played very infrequently - maybe less than five times in all! ...vinyl is shiny and vibrant. Cover/jacket is VG++ ...no seam splits, light edge wear, a couple of light marks, a couple of tiny crease marks ...no writing anywhere ...cover still retains its sheen (overall a really fine cover/jacket). LP package has been stored in a poly outer sleeve in a smoke-free environment. This MFSL title is RARE - you won't see many, especially in this condition!
